After trying out several racing series this year, Akshay Bohra will start a full season in Formula 4 in the United Arab Emirates in early 2023.
The younger brother of F4 racer Nikhil Bohra will start racing karting in 2022, spending his rookie season driving an OK Kart for the Factory Kart Republic team. He finished 13th in the WSK Supermasters series before moving to the Energy Corse factory team during the Future Championship season (where he finished 30th) and 26th in the World Karting Championship.
At the same time, he also took his first steps in racing, first joining Ginetta Junior’s R Racing on a part-time basis. Bohra finished just half the season with a best finish of ninth, before making his single-seater debut in the Italian F4 season finale as teammate of US Racing brother Nikhil. He finished 13th in two of the weekend’s three races.
“I am very excited to be competing in the 2023 F4 UAE Championship with PHM Racing,” said Bohra. “It’s an honor to have been selected by an ambitious team that is looking for young talent and supporting their driver development through the single-seater ladder. With a race-winning car and proven system, I can’t wait to compete for my No. An F4 champion.”
He is PHM’s third signing after F4 UAE Valentine Cruz and Noah Stromsteadand has recently been participating in a playoff Italian F4 test with US Racing.
The Bohra rider is part of ADD Management, the team that oversees the careers of Lando Norris and his former roommates Sacha Fenestraz, Jake Dennis, Zane Maloney and Ugo Ugochukwu.
“Akshay has gained a lot of attention in karting and in the driver development program,” said PHM’s team manager Roland Rehfeld.
“He caught our attention as a rookie at the first round in Italian F4, with good natural speed and a high learning curve. After his European testing programme, this will be his first full win in F4 , we are delighted to be racing with him in UAE F4 and hope to win.”
