Market-leading date processor Al Barakah Dates has announced plans to expand its operations in India, exporting over 30,000 tonnes of bulk raw material from its factory in Dubai Industrial City (DIC).
The joint venture with leading India-based food processing company Candor Foods Pvt Ltd was announced at a signing ceremony at Gulfood 2023. It is underpinned by the UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) announced in May 2022 to create a larger market through preferential tariff rates and benefits.
DIC’s Al Barakah Date Factory is the largest private date factory in the world. It aims to process more than 100,000 tonnes of dates and date products annually – equivalent to almost half of the UAE’s entire domestic production. The joint venture will leverage the factory’s expanded production capacity and DIC’s strategic connectivity via air, sea, road and the upcoming Etihad Rail to meet the needs of one of the world’s largest consumer markets.

The joint venture underscores the UAE’s growing importance as a key manufacturing hub, a priority for the 300 billion move. The industrial strategy aims to develop the UAE’s industrial sector and enhance its role in stimulating the national economy by promoting localized production and boosting exports to global markets.
As the largest industrial center in the region, DIC is a major supporter of the “300 Billion Action”. It provides businesses with integrated solutions, a well-equipped infrastructure – including industrial land, warehouses and worker accommodation, and an extended transport network to global markets.
