US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, and Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, met in New Delhi to discuss the advancement of cooperation between the two countries in combating terrorism, drug trafficking, and security. The meeting took place at the Northern District Office of the Interior Ministry.
During their discussions, Minister Shah reiterated his commitment to promoting the positive outcomes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to the US.
“The Federal Home Minister, Amit Shah, had a productive dialogue with US Ambassador Eric Garcetti today, focusing on advancing cooperation between the two countries in counter- terrorism, drug trafficking, and security. They reaffirmed their commitment to build upon the positive results of Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit to India,” tweeted the Home Secretary’s Office.
In a separate news conference in Kolkata, Garcetti commended the emphasis of the West Bengal government on developing the state as a major logistics hub for the region. He praised their efforts in developing ports, land, waterways, and intermodal infrastructure, which has attracted billions of dollars of investment from both India and the United States. Garcetti highlighted the strategic location and skilled workforce of West Bengal, stating that there are numerous investors and significant funds ready to contribute to the development of the state`s infrastructure.
