We are just days away from 2023 and I already have mixed emotions about the new year.

On the one hand, this is should be a fresh start and the opportunity to do better. On the other hand, some old specter of the past few years continues to haunt us – from Covid-19 to divisive politics.

I think we all need some changes.

For that matter, I’m doing some remixes on Pop Life Chronicles.

At the end of last year, I asked you, my dear readers, what you liked most about this newsletter – and most of you said it was the part you could savor. Cocktails first, of course.

So while I’ll still be offering advice on what to watch, talk and listen to for entertainment, you’ll notice some new formats and fresh flavors in this week’s letters and keep going.

Let’s get started and here’s to a fresh start, shall we?

Celine Dion performs at the Videotron Center in Quebec City, Canada on September 18, 2019.

Social media is made for anger.

seriously, where will twitter be What if we took away all the anger?

Granted, some of the things people choose to argue are ridiculous, but when it comes to Celine Dion, her supporters aren’t on board.

the singer was recently eliminated Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 200 greatest singers of all time Dion fans angrily stood up.

list like this Often plotted to spark debate, but Dion is unquestionably one of the greatest singers of all time, holding a mic.Considering she recently revealed that she was unable to perform due to a diagnosis of a rare disease nervous disorderthe exclusion seems to be harsher.

Now, some cynics might say that her being snubbed was the best thing that happened to the rankings because people were talking about it.But if you want music audiences to take your judgment seriously, excluding singers like Dion — or Dion WarwickDidn’t show up on the list either – doesn’t seem like the best strategy.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attend the WellChild Awards at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on September 4, 2018.

Are you tired of hearing from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex?

Count me among those who believe they are both treated horribly, but I also understand the sentiment of some, “H” and “M” – as they call each other affectionately in their lives Recent Netflix Documentary Series – maybe a bit overexposed.

Prince Harry has a new interview Join Anderson Cooper on ’60 Minutes’ and UK network ITV this weekend to promote his upcoming memoir.

There are plenty of Americans – I raise my hand and wave to the royals – eager to keep up with “corporate” news, but how much of a good thing (or, in Harry and Meghan’s case, a bad thing) is too much?

It can be difficult to balance the feeling of being in control of your own narrative with the feeling of telling the same story over and over again. However, let us remember that Harry there is a book for sale – This requires doing press and showing up.

what do you think? Write to me and let me know your opinion.

Dua Lipa performs at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on November 8, 2022.

No, Dua Lipa doesn’t have a new album, but she has an interesting podcast.

“Dua Lipa: At Your Service” is an interview-based series in which the singer hosted a series of distinguished guests, including Former “Daily Show” host Trevor Noahcivil rights leader Brian Stevenson and famous director Pedro Almodóvar, among others.

Lipa even plans to record an episode live at the Hay Literary Arts Festival On the banks of the River Hay in Wales this summer.

“Dua Lipa: at your service” As long as there are podcasts, they can be heard.

‘Abbott Elementary School’

School is back!

Maybe not a more enjoyable show Than “Abbott Elementary” is currently airing or streaming, and is back after winter break with some new episodes.

Its creator and star, Quinta Brunson, has managed to make a series that’s funny, poignant and earnest; tribute to educators everywhere. Wouldn’t it be cute to book another sitcom viewing?

The series returns to ABC on Wednesday and also streams on Hulu.

Madoff: The Monster of Wall Street

Always, whenever a new year rolls around, I start looking at my finances and swearing stick to the budget. (I don’t actually stick to a budget.)

Right now, my finances are hardly at the level that Bernie Madoff is interested in, but his rise and fall huge ponzi scheme Still one of the most fascinating white-collar crimes of all time — so I got involved with this Netflix docu-series about the disgraced financier, who dies in 2021 while serving a 150-year sentence.

“Madoff: Monster of Wall Street” is playing.
