The original lead guitarist of the Mogollon Band, Michael Bruce, Alice Cooper, Jack Curtis and Loy Clingman, pioneers in talent promotion and recording in Arizona, will be inducted into the Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame at an upcoming ceremony.
The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, July 16 at 4 p.m. at the Madison Center for the Arts, 5601 North 16th Street, Phoenix.
The Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame was created to recognize and honor the contributions of musicians, entertainers, venues and individuals who have had a significant impact on the evolution and growth of Arizona’s music and entertainment culture.

A special tribute will be paid to Mogollon Band frontman Duane Moore who passed away in April 2022. George Brunson created the Mogollon Band in Heber-Overgaard in 1979, and it’s been an Arizona favorite ever since.
Bruce was one of the original members of the Alice Cooper Band. He joined the band in 1966 and left in 1975, writing music for many of Alice Cooper’s hits, including “No More Mister Nice Guy,” “I’m Eventeen” and “School’s Out “. Bruce is currently working on a new album with his original band, The Michael Bruce Band.
During his five-year career, from the late 1950s through the 1990s, Curtis became synonymous with entertainment in Arizona. In 1957, he wrote entertainment columns for the Arizona Republic and the Phoenix Gazette. His record label, Mascot Records, was one of the most popular and certainly best-selling Phoenix bands of the 60’s. P-Nut Butter.
He has played concerts at state fairs with internationally acclaimed bands such as Sonny & Cher, The Beach Boys, The Byrds, Gary Puckett and The Union Gap.
Klingman was a pioneer of Arizona folk music. He records, writes, and performs cowboy poet tunes on weekends while supporting his family on his teacher’s salary. Among the many singers his studio Viv produced was the young Mirriam Johnson, who a few years later would become the famous Jessi Colter. In 1960, Klingman continued to record for hundreds of local bands and singers well into the ’70s.
The inductees’ names will be added to a list of 75 artists currently honored by the Arizona Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame, which includes Linda Ronstadt, Steven Spielberg, Waylon Jennings and Jesse Colter, Marty Robbins, Stevie Nix, Nils Lofgren, Dick Van Dyke, Wallace and Radmore, Pat McMahon and Glenn Campbell.
