Karachi: Army Chief of Staff General Asim Munir met UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at Qasr al Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi, UAE state news agency WAM reported on Tuesday , and reviewed the bilateral cooperation and military relations between the two countries.
The army chief, who is on a seven-day official visit to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, arrived in the country on Monday.
WAM added that the two reviewed bilateral cooperation and military ties and discussed ways to strengthen them for the benefit of both countries.
The UAE President also congratulated COAS on his appointment as Commander of the Pakistan Army and wished him luck in his new duties, WAM reported.
UAE Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor Sheikh Tahnun bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other senior members of the royal family and the military Officials were also in attendance.
The meeting came a day after COAS General Munir met Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
The meeting between the two took place at the crown prince’s winter camp in the Saudi city of al-Ula, about 1,000 kilometers northwest of the capital Riyadh.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), COAS and the Crown Prince reviewed bilateral relations and ways to further strengthen them.
The two also discussed issues of mutual concern, the SPA added.
The army chief also reportedly performed Umrah on Monday, with social media videos showing him entering the Kaaba, where he reportedly prayed.
Last week, COAS met with Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
During their meeting, the two leaders emphasized the strength and durability of the bilateral relationship between the two countries, the SPA said.
