“The Charm of the Near East: Treasures of the Huntington Museum of Art” – Via Aug. 21, Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, 401 Museum Drive, Hagerstown. Examples of glassware, ceramics, metalwork, paintings, weapons, weaving, etc., created between the 7th century BC and the late 19th century AD. Ordinary Magic: The Garden of the Eighties – Through August 28, Draperland Center for the Arts, 40 S. Carroll St., Frederick. “Making History: Precious Memories of Good Times That Never Happened” – Through August 28, Draperland Center for the Arts, 40 S. Carroll St., Frederick. The pencil drawings in this exhibition depict life in the 1940s that existed only in the artist’s imagination. “Carnival” — Through August 31, Majestic Theatre Art Gallery, 25 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA. Multimedia painting by Gettysburg College alumna Sarah Jacobs. Frederick County Arts Society Exhibition – Via September 9, Frederick Health Crestwood Center, 7211 Bank Court, Frederick. “The Unstructured Rise” — Through September 23, FAC Center for the Arts, 5 E. Second St., Frederick. Using a variety of materials, including textiles and cast iron, highlights Alyssa Imes’ approach to creating multimedia experiences for the audience of her work.
