[ad_1]

JOHNSTON, Pa. — Come out and spend a day crafting in nature.

The Art Walk in Stackhouse Park will be held at Stackhouse Park, 998 Lucerne Street, Johnstown, on August 28 from 10am-6pm.

The event will include arts and crafts vendors, musical entertainment, food vendors, children’s activities, dog races and a 5K race.

Event organizer Denise Urban said the Art Walk at Stackhouse Park began three years ago when park board members were looking for new events to offer at the park.

“I’m a craftsman and artist and I thought we could have a craft show,” she said.

“Everyone was overwhelmed with attendance in the first and second year.

“Last year, we had over 1,000 visitors and we expect to see even more this year.”

There will be 60 vendors along the Tioga Trail and around the Tioga Pavilion.

“We have vendors who have participated in previous years sign up because they are comfortable with it,” Urban said.

“This year, there are also suppliers from outside the region, from Pittsburgh and Maryland.”

Merchandise includes wood carvings, fiber art, jewelry, crochet and knitted items, home decor, wooden signs, seasonal garlands, dog treats and accessories, acrylics and watercolors, artisan jerky, baked goods, and seasonal flowers and flowers at the SEADS Garden Center. plant.

“The artists and craftsmen are judged and of high quality,” Urban said.

“It’s all handmade.”

The Evergreens will have musical entertainment at the store on Diamonds from 11am to 12:30pm; Spangler Pavilion every Wednesday from 11am to 2pm; Spangler Pavilion and Mark Weakland from 4pm to 6pm.

Run the Park 5K will begin at Ranger’s Station at 8am.

“Last year, we had 80 people participating,” Urban said.

“It goes through the park and it’s a challenging route.”

The fee is $25 and online registration is available www.ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=95900.

The dog competition will begin at 10:30am at Spangler Pavilion and will be divided into four categories – Best Dressed, Best Looking Dog, Longest Kiss and Most Talented Dog.

There will be first and second prizes in each category.

Admission is $5.Application available online www.artwalkinthepark.com.

“It’s really grown,” Urban said.

“People love their dogs.”

At 3pm, the park’s new StoryWalk, located near Spangler Pavilion, will cut the ribbon.

“It’s geared toward little kids, and there’s a book on each pole that you can read through a trail,” Urban said.

“That changes from time to time.”

Children’s activities will include crafts and face painting.

The Steel City Axe will be set up opposite the park entrance for those who want to try their hand at throwing an axe.

Food and beverage vendors include Balance Restaurant, Grumbling Gypsy, Red’s Texas BBQ, Roots Juicery & Kitchen, Kona Ice of Conemaugh Valley, Hungry Owl, Brick Lid Pizza by Norman and Mary Ed, B & L Wine Cellars and Noble Stein Brewery Co.

Additionally, Mill House Café & Co. at 828 Diamond Blvd. will serve coffee and pastries.

Proceeds will benefit Stackhouse Park to help maintain trails and provide educational programs.

“We want people to not only enjoy the handicrafts, but also to take in the view of the park, to take a deep breath and enjoy nature,” Urban said.

“I also hope it brings more awareness to the park because it’s a hidden gem and a lot of people don’t know where it is or what it’s about.”

There is no entrance fee.

Parking will be available in the Westmont Hilltop Elementary School car park.

Golf carts driven by volunteers from For Johnstown will be on-site to transport attendees up and down the trail and help carry purchases.
