In line with its regional expansion target of 10,000 operating units by 2025, Ascott will further expand its MEAT footprint with a solid pipeline into the African subcontinent, including Djibouti, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Nigeria and Senegal . Focusing on its existing key source markets, Ascott will also strengthen its presence in Kenya, Turkey and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), with its iconic Ascott, Citadines and Somerset Brands open properties.
As part of the Group’s five key pillars for building a better tomorrow: Community, Alliances, Respect, Environment and Supply Chain; Ascott CARES aligns with parent company CapitaLand Investment’s 2030 Sustainability Master Plan to build a resilient investment combined to accelerate sustainable innovation for a thriving and future-proof community in the region.
Ascott implemented key sustainable best practices across its operations to transition to a low-carbon business model, reducing its global carbon intensity2 by 78%, water intensity2 by 45% and energy intensity 2 reduced by 35% and achieved a 25% increase in recycling processes for daily operations.
Ascott will also improve its waste management and supply chain processes through environmental, health and safety (EHS) systems, thereby reducing energy consumption across its global operations. In the region, Ascott will also enhance the guest experience with wooden contactless key cards and the use of plant-based tableware in premises.
Ascott showcased its unwavering sustainable commitment to the region under the theme ‘Paperless’ at ATM 2023, demonstrating its commitment to the environment. Visitors are welcome to experience Ascott Hotels’ engaging and immersive digital experience, tablet and digital business card deployment at the hotel exhibition through a combination of interactive screens. Ascott’s sustainability stand exudes a fresh aesthetic at the ATM stand with vibrant plants and a splendid olive tree in bloom at its centre, inspiring a greener future.
In addition, the leading accommodation owner-operator is reinforcing its environmental awareness by setting up recycling counters at ATMs, and will repurpose elements of its inspiring booth for future UAE trade show.
In pursuit of excellence in sustainability, Ascott Dynamic’s environmental best practices have received Green Key certification from leading accommodation owner-operator across its regional properties and Somerset Maslak Istanbul has also received Gulf Sustainable Phase 1 of Tourism Council (GSTC) accreditation.
