From Humble Beginnings to a Visionary Leader
Amidst the glitz and glamor of the family-owned textile business in Karnataka, there was a simple guy who left Business to go to Kolkata at the age of 19 to follow his passion for textiles and apparel. Kapil worked at a garment agency in Kolkata to support his passion. Though his initial salary was modest at Rs 18,000 per month, it was his relentless determination to succeed that stood out.
He quickly made a name for himself and by the time he turned 22, he was already appointed as the Regional Head of a prominent Apparel & Textile agency in Surat. This role allowed him to further improve his understanding of the textile industry and gave him the experience needed to get through its complexities. By 25, He had his own Identity in the Industry.

But to his surprise, the meeting with Mr. Mahindra didn’t take place – again a blessing in disguise because a pivotal moment in Kapil’s journey was his interaction with Manish Advani, an influential mentor, Founder of MIMO Potentio, Speaker at 8 TedX Events and ex-Marketing and Change Management Head at Mahindra Special Services Group currently advising multiple startups. After seeking advice from Manish, Kapil was encouraged to start his own venture with his own funds instead of approaching large corporations prematurely for funding. Manish’s guidance laid the foundation for Kapil’s humble yet ambitious approach, based on the values Manish gained in Mahindra Group and his personal interactions with Mr. Anand Mahindra, Manish urged Kapil to build a business on strong foundation based on trust, innovation, and persistence.
Success always comes with failures, but those tough times get relatively easier when you have a mentor by your side. Kapil credits a lot of his success to the influence of his Father, Mr. Ramesh Bhimrajji Rajpurohit & his Mentor Manish Advani who encouraged Kapil to venture out independently rather than seeking investment too early, a piece of advice that changed the way he looked at entrepreneurship.

Fast forward, Kapil came back to Surat, decided to take his career to the next level by starting his own company – Tex Story India, a textile sourcing and manufacturing company with the goal of simplifying textile sourcing. The company saw phenomenal success in its second year, recording a remarkable 200x growth in turnover.

Tex Story India is based in Surat and was founded by Kapil at the age of 26. Surat is known as the fabric hub of India, and anyone who is into textile knows that Surat is the best place to be at.
While the story of Tex Story India success seems very convenient, it wasn’t so easy. He had a vision to build a global textile enterprise that not only catered to diverse market needs but also changed how sourcing was done in the industry. His company has successfully carved out a niche in the competitive textile market, and along with just women’s wear, offered solutions across a wide range of categories including menswear, kids’ wear, and home furnishings manufactured in Surat.
