Astra Tech launches autonomous shopping with Facepay

[ad_1]

Astra Tech, the MENA region’s leading consumer technology holding group, has opened its first autonomous shopping store in Abu Dhabi’s Sky Tower, a physical store run solely by artificial intelligence (AI).

The ‘B Store’ is an innovative retail concept that is revolutionizing the shopping experience in the UAE through faster payment processing and less hassle. Powered by cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology and cloud integration, B Store provides a seamless and fully automated shopping experience, allowing shoppers to pay for their purchases simply by using their faces.

Integrating facial recognition technology for customer payments in autonomous stores is a unique offering that sets Astra apart. The store focuses on grocery items with extended shelf life, ensuring customer satisfaction and convenience. This innovative combination demonstrates Astra’s commitment to expanding and enhancing its services.

Worry-free journey

At B Store, shoppers can expect a hassle-free journey from start to finish, as the process is designed to provide a seamless and convenient shopping experience. Upon approaching the entry gate, customers are greeted by an ELO screen that displays a message to “Tap or Scan to Enter”. They can choose to swipe their card at a POS or pay with Payby’s revolutionary FacePay; instead of choosing actions on a screen, users can perform actions. For card payments, customers continue to tap their card at the POS machine, while for FacePay, they turn to the FacePay machine and simply look at it. Once the payment method is complete, the ELO screen will initiate questions about the receipt.

When selecting their preferred option, the gate opens allowing access to the store. In the store, customers can easily retrieve the products they want in the most convenient and smooth way. When leaving, they receive a text message on the phone number provided thanking them for their trip and letting them know their receipt is being processed. The subsequent message contains a hyperlink allowing customers to conveniently click and view their receipt.

Valeriya Thores, Director of Autonomous Ecommerce at Astra Tech, said: “This innovative integration of facial recognition technology has revolutionized the way we shop and demonstrates our commitment to delivering unparalleled convenience and security. Step into the future of retail with B Store , your face becomes your final payment method. Our vision has always been to simplify everyday life for our customers and this is another step in that direction.”

The Ultra app takes its products a step further by harnessing the power of AI and creating an autonomous store where customers can seamlessly complete transactions using the power of their faces. With its pioneering vision driving the industry forward, Astra Tech is reimagining the future and cementing its leadership at the forefront of regional technology. — trade arab news agency
