BBC Studios has backed a new British entertainment label with executives Simon Shalgosky and Daniel Brookes at the helm.
The production distributor will distribute Rebel globally following the launch of the shingle in Rebel Pictures’ format, which will focus on primetime entertainment and factual entertainment.

Shalgosky and Brookes have a combined 40 years experience in television, past accomplishments include Love Island, I’m a Celebrity…get me out of here! , X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and eurovision song contest and past employers including ITV Studios and Seven Studios.

“Our goal with Rebel Rebel is to produce some of the most imaginative shows on television with global reach,” said Shalgosky. “We believe strongly in creating big formats and strive to produce iconic shows that are instantly recognizable even when the volume is turned down.”
Emma Hardie, commercial director of international production and formats at BBC Studios, said the move was “very exciting”.
BBC Studios has recently backed a number of production houses including Jamie Demetriou’s People Day Limited, Joe Sugg’s Final Straw Productions and factory interior Independent voltage TV.
