Belarus closes borders, Lithuania rejects immigration | Immigration News

[ad_1]

President Lukashenko stated that immigrants rejected by Lithuania will not be allowed to return to Belarus.

The President of Belarus has ordered the country’s security forces to strengthen control over the borders of Lithuania, and Lithuania began to reject migrants trying to transit through Belarus earlier this week.

Lithuania is a member of the European Union. In the past few months, the number of Iraqi immigrants who have tried to enter the country in an abnormal manner has surged. The surge is becoming another source of tension between Belarus and its western European neighbors.

It stated that after the EU sanctioned Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, this movement was a retaliatory strategy by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko because the country diverted a plane to Lithuania and forced it to land in Belarus. Capital Minsk, to arrest dissidents on board.

On Tuesday, Lithuania stated that it reserved the right to use force to stop such illegal immigration and rejected 180 attempts to enter the country.

Lukashenko ordered the defense and security agencies to “close every metre of the border” on Thursday so that migrants who were turned away from Lithuania could not return to Belarus.

During a meeting with defense and security officials, Lukashenko said: “God bless them to start implementing a policy of deporting people they invite there through official border crossings.”

He added: “From today, no one should set foot on Belarusian territory from a neighboring country, whether from the south or the west.”

Belarusian authorities claimed this week that Iraqi immigrants deported from Lithuania to Belarus were injured, including dog bites, and had to be hospitalized. Belarus also claimed on Wednesday that a “Fislavian” died of injuries in a border town, but Lithuania considered the report to be propaganda by a hostile regime.

Defense Minister Avidas Anusoskas called the report an “obvious provocation.” Lithuania is under mixed attacks, and the dissemination of such information is a typical example of this process. “

Lithuania is a country with a population of less than 3 million. There are no physical barriers on the 679-kilometer (420-mile) border with Belarus. About 4,090 migrants crossed the border from Belarus this year.

Local media in Poland, a member of the European Union, reported that some immigrants also tried to enter the country from Belarus, but on a smaller scale.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lithuania released a video taken from a helicopter this week, showing a large number of migrants being escorted to the Lithuanian border by Belarusian border guard vehicles.

The Belarusian State Border Commission accused Lithuania of “continuing to force immigrants to invade the Belarusian border” on Thursday, and reported that the country attempted to “transfer eight immigrants… to Belarusian territory” but was blocked by the Belarusian border guards.
