It’s the biggest night in the cultural world!The event was attended by some of the biggest names in music, television, film and sports 2023 BET Awards And get ready to celebrate black excellence.
With the list of nominees packed with heavy hitters like Drake, Lizzo, Beyoncé, Angela Bassett, LeBron James, and more, it’s hard to pick your favourite. But someone has to bring home the trophy, and The Economic Times is tracking the night’s winner.
This year’s list of nominees is led by Drake, who has the most nominations with seven nominations, including Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Best Group 21 Savage and Best Collaboration with Future and Tems.
GloRilla is the most nominated woman of the night with six nominations including Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Best New Artist, Album of the Year life is good anyway And the best video of the year for Tomorrow 2 with Cardi B.
Sunday night’s show, which returns to Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater, is especially significant as it celebrates the 50th anniversary of hip-hop with a live broadcast. Music was, of course, a big part of the evening, with performances from the nominees of the year including Coco Jones, GloriaDuqiyi and Lil Uzi Witt.
The evening also featured a star-studded tribute to Tina Turner, several performances that paid homage to the hip-hop subgenre, and a celebration of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award winner Busta Rimes ( Busta Rhymes, honoring his musical legacy of more than 30 years.
