Critics of Meghan and Harry are urging Bill Simmons to share the duke’s Zoom story in his next podcast.
Spotify’s global head of sports content Bill Simmons has publicly insulted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after announcing that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are terminating their multi-million dollar deal with the streaming giant.
Bill Simmons, whose platform The Ringer is owned by Spotify, expressed his outrage on a recent episode of The Bill Simmons Podcast, calling Harry and Meghan “fucking liars” and Mentioned that he was on Zoom with Harry when they were apparently brainstorming podcast ideas.
“‘Fucking Liar.’ That was the podcast we were supposed to launch with them. I got drunk one night and told the story of me using Zoom with Harry to try and help him come up with the podcast idea. It was One of my best stories,” Simmons said.
Meghan and Harry have reportedly only produced one series under their Archewell Audio podcast imprint since signing a $20 million deal in 2020.
The show, Markle’s “Prototype,” has topped the podcast charts in many markets, with listeners flocking to her discussions with influential women.
But the two sides said in a joint statement that the deal was coming to an end.
“Spotify and Archewell Audio have mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we have co-produced,” the statement said.
On Thursday, industry name Variety quoted an unnamed source as saying that Spotify has been anticipating more content.
