BKK Sports will make its Dubai debut on October 8 with a star-studded fight night at the Rashid Bin Hamdan Hall in Al Nasr.
The 10 bouts of the BKK Taekwondo Championships will feature 20 world-class fighters and multiple champions from around the world, as well as a fight between India’s Mohammad Shuhaib and Pakistan’s Shakir Abdullah Chandio Exciting duel.
Tournament organisers BKK Sports are going to great lengths to ensure their first event in Dubai is a huge success. They have signed deals with 64 broadcasters and are expected to broadcast the fight in more than 190 countries.

“Dubai is a city where every athlete, every fighter wants to come and compete, and we had no problem signing some of the best players from around the world for our first fight night,” BKK Sports CEO Midhun Jith said he holds two major karate Guinness world records and has also won two world championships in taekwondo.

The two main cards of the inaugural BKK Taekwondo Championship will feature Swiss star Ulric Bokeme against Turkey’s Serdar Eroglu and Romania’s Christian Adrian Mile against Uzbekistan’s Mavlud Tupiev.
The 90kg world championship belt is placed between Ulric, Switzerland and Eroglu, Turkey.
Bokeme is a world kickboxing champion, two-time European champion, two-time Roma champion and two-time Swiss champion, and has an impressive career record of 32-3-0. Meanwhile, Sedar Eroglu is a 28-2-1 professional with a record of 17 Turkish National Champions, IFMA Muay Thai World Champion, Wako Taekwondo World Champion.
two co-hosts
There will be two co-host games on the night: Russian star Saifulah Hambachadov vs. Turkey’s Furhan Semikarabagh, and Turkish legend Fanta Alcais vs. Chile’s Francesca Women’s race at Belen Villa Lizama.
Meanwhile, Indian and Pakistani expats will see two exciting young talents face off in the boxing ring in what has been dubbed the “highlight” of the night.
Pakistan’s Chandio is unbeaten in 15 matches on the Pro Tour but will face a more experienced opponent. Shuhaib, from Kerala, India, has an impressive resume with 60 matches in his amateur career (55-5) and 16 matches on the Pro Tour (14-2) ).
Muay Thai
“I’m very excited about the fight in Dubai,” said Shuhaib, a six-time Indian National Muay Thai champion who has also won the South India Championship (2018) and the Thailand Muay Thai Championship (2019).
“Dubai is an incredible place with incredible people from all over the world, many of them from India, many of them from my home state of Kerala. I’m really looking forward to seeing them in battle , supported me when I went into the ring with the Indian flag against my opponent from Pakistan. When I was in the ring, the thought of the Indian national anthem being played gave me goosebumps.”
Having lost his father at the age of five and having to battle hardships to get to where he is now, Chandio is also looking forward to the fight, but his heart is heavy with the situation in his home country, where floods have killed more than 1,000 people people, leaving thousands homeless.
Pakistan’s challenge
“It’s a tough time for us as a country, given the flooding situation in Pakistan,” he said. “It’s heartbreaking to see the disaster. So my battle in Dubai and I will dedicate it to the victims of the flood. I want to win the game for them and I ask all Pakistanis in this wonderful place to come to the venue to support me.”
The other matches of the night were: El Mehdi Kakrami Bernoussi (Morocco) vs Ferzan Cicek (Turkey); Mohamed El Boukhari (Morocco) vs Mohammed El Mir (Palestine); Worawit Madadam (Thailand) vs Bekmursev Temirlan (Russia); Ben Henia Sabri ( Belgium) vs Abdullah Al Falouji (Syria); Walid Ek Kehal (Morocco) vs Fabio Reis (Portugal).
Bernoussi, El Boukhari, El Kehal and Al Falouji are all Emirati fighters affiliated with the UAE Muay Thai and Taekwondo Federation, and BKK Sports is keen to promote these talents on the international stage.
The BKK Taekwondo Championships are expected to see a number of officials from the World Association of Taekwondo Organizations, including WAKO President Roy Baker and WAKO Secretary General Espen Lund.
