A couple created an engagement with the theme of “slavery”. Under this theme, MTO News observed that the African American groom was a slave to a white female slave owner who fell in love with him. The white woman then freed him from bondage, allowing the two to be together.

The couple wrote: “1842: Days passed, everything changed, our love grew stronger and stronger. He is no longer a slave, he is a member of our family.”
The couple subsequently posted a series of photos of the groom being chained and his blonde wife standing next to him.
