The beloved CBS police family drama “Blue Bloods” is filming again on Long Island for the season finale scenes of NYPD Det. Danny Regan (Donnie Wahlberg) reunites with his former detective partner Jackie Curatola (Jennifer Esposito) after many years.
The news about Esposito — who was forced out of the show in 2012 after three seasons because her celiac disease prevented the network from offering her a reduced schedule — seemed to come through on Monday through an unlikely Posted by source: Ex-Rep. Pitkin Seaford, “Blue Bloods” superfan.
“Earlier today, I had the privilege of being on the set of Blue Bloods, which they filmed in Bayville,” said the former congressman, who turns 79 on Wednesday. wrote Post live photos of actors on Facebook. “This episode highlights the reunion between Donny Wahlberg (Danny) and Jennifer Esposito (Jackie). As always, Donny and everyone on set had a blast! Watching Blue Bloods!!”
It’s unclear if this is just a cameo, or if Esposito, who went on to star in other series in the interim, could return to the show. A network spokesman declined to comment, and Esposito has not commented publicly.
Kim has previously posted on social media about visiting the production location of “Blue Bloods,” which is now in its 13th season. “He was very friendly with some of the people on the show,” explained Mike Fauci, 48, of Hicksville, the show’s location manager. “I don’t know exactly who, but he seems to know where we’re going. Gotta say,” jokes Fucci, “I don’t think he’s stalking us!”
The episode “Forgive Our Mistakes” — written by Locust Valley executive producer and showrunner Kevin Wade and executive producer Siobhan Byrne O’Connor and directed by Alex Zakrzewski — finds Bayville substituting for Mattituck. There, Danny Reagan reunites with the long-isolated Curatola. Danny is the eldest son of Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), the second-generation New York Police Department Chief. He also has his son Jamie (Will Estes) and grandson Joe Hill. (Will Hochman), and his daughter Irene (Bridget Moynahan), who lives in Manhattan, a law firm. Len Cariou also plays Henry, Frank’s retired commissioner’s father.
The production shot Friday and Monday at three locations in Bayville. In addition to the Long Island Sound beaches in the village, “we’re on both sides of Bayville Avenue, both on Quincy Avenue,” Fauci said. They shot exteriors of two houses—including Jokeland, the home of comedian and former “Howard Stern” writer-partner Jackie “The Joke Man” Martling.
The “quaint cottage,” as Fucci describes it, is “one of those places you sometimes find it’s like they’re written for it,” and its exterior is apt. As a bonus, Matlin, originally from East Norwich, had some real-life reunions with the crew who began filming the Howard Stern biopic “Private Parts” (1997), in which The Joker play yourself.
“The whole crew knows who he is, and many crew members are now middle-aged [relatively] The kids during the filming of their first film, “Intimate Parts.” said Fucci. “They remembered Jackie, and Jackie said he remembered them.” I’m not sure if he’s just being polite, but he’s just naturally hysterical, and anytime you’re around someone like him, you’re in a good mood. ”
As it turned out, filming on the beach was “a little bit out of our taste — that’s not a typical location for ‘Blue Bloods,'” Fauci said, “but it was fun. It was a really nice way to end a long season.” The show will be back, CBS Announce March 29, at least one more.
