The Argentine Super Cup will be held for the first time abroad in Abu Dhabi on January 20, with Boca Juniors taking on Racing Club, the Argentine Football Federation (AFA) said on Thursday.
The AFA and Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) signed a four-year partnership in June 2022 to stage a series of football events between the two countries.
“After the first successful match between Argentina and the United Arab Emirates national team in their last friendly match before the start of the World Cup, the ADSC and the AFA continued their plans to strengthen football and sporting ties by organizing the final of the Argentine Super Cup,” the AFA said in a statement on Thursday. In 2022 it was agreed to take place on Friday 20 January 2023.
Argentine giants Boca Juniors won the league title in October, while Sporting Club won the Champions League in November.
