Canadian business jet manufacturer Bombardier (Static A19) held a groundbreaking ceremony for a service center at Abu Dhabi International Airport, marking its expansion into the United Arab Emirates, the Canadian business jet manufacturer announced on the opening day of the MEBAA exhibition.
When the nearly 100,000-square-foot facility opens in 2025, it will be a key hub for Bombardier’s service activities in the Middle East and add more than 100 jobs. With the ability to service Bombardier’s Learjet, Challenger and Global families, its hangar will be able to accommodate up to four Global 7500s simultaneously.
In addition to a large hangar, the facility will include a parts depot and offer scheduled and unscheduled overhauls, aircraft modifications, paint modifications, aircraft parking capabilities and aircraft parking services.
“The Middle East is an important market for Bombardier and with more than 150 aircraft, we are delighted to establish an efficient facility in the UAE for our customers as well as those from around the world,” said Bombardier President and CEO Éric Martel. “Abu Dhabi is the UAE’s vibrant commercial and commercial financial center and this service facility will bring significant advantages, fast aircraft turnaround and OEM peace of mind to our growing customer base.”
Jamal Salem Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, added: “Bombardier’s presence underscores Abu Dhabi Airports’ commitment to general aviation and is an important step in making Abu Dhabi a general aviation hub in the region.”
As Bombardier’s first MRO in the UAE, the Abu Dhabi Service Center more than doubles its footprint, adding nearly one million square feet, as part of a multi-year global expansion of the company’s service capabilities.
