Boris Becker ‘will return to German soil in time for Christmas’ | Entertainment

Boris Becker will reportedly return to his native Germany in time for Christmas.

The jailed tennis champion is due to be deported next week after serving less than eight months of his two-and-a-half-year sentence for £2.5million bankruptcy fraud.

According to the Daily Mirror on Monday (05.12.22), the 54-year-old has been given permission to implement a fast-track scheme that returns foreigners who commit crimes in the UK to their home countries to free up resources in British prisons.

Boris, who was sentenced in April after hiding £2.5million in assets when he declared bankruptcy, spent almost two months at HMP Huntercombe in Oxfordshire.

According to the Mirror, his move to Germany means he will not be able to complete the remainder of his sentence.

But the three-time Wimbledon champion is not believed to be able to return to the UK until the remainder of his sentence is over.

A former spokesman for Boris said last month: “We are delighted for Boris, who may be eligible for early release and be able to go to Germany, although England has been his home for many years. It means a lot to the family.”

From 2020 to 2021, more than 1,100 criminals were deported under the early removal program, which can reduce their sentences by up to 135 days if they agree to go home.

Boris was found guilty after transferring around £390,000 from his business accounts to others, including the accounts of his ex-wife Barbara Becker and estranged spouse Lily Becker.

He has yet to declare his share of a £1m estate in his native Leimen, Germany, and has hidden nearly £700,000 in bank loans worth £1.1m with interest, as well as tens of thousands of technology shares. Company, valued at £66,000.
