It aims to combine the opportunities of the East with the strength and experience of the Western studio system, “to deliver a new studio ecosystem outside of Asia, built for the digital age.”

Two film projects are already in the works, and a third with “Slumdog Millionaire” star Frieda Pinto is in development.

Berman will serve as president and co-chairman and will join the board of directors of the company, which was formed in 2021. Another VRP alumnus, Robert Corbin, will join the company as chief financial officer. Corbin was previously Executive Director of Finance and Operations for VRP and before that worked at Lionsgate. Fred Wang, Hong Kong veteran installation guru and head of Salon Films, is also on the board.

Let’s take Run Run Shaw as an example to see how he built Hong Kong [as a powerhouse in global cinema between the 1970s and 1980s] as some kind of role model. “

Berman said production will be a mix of in-house developed projects that may be wholly owned or brought to the company by streamers and studios. Their provenance, in turn, will determine whether properties are brought to the market through independent sales channels or in partnership with larger corporations. “We’re open to both routes,” Berman said. “both [Chand] I am a movie buff. So, it’s important for us to [projects] difficult to forget. “

Through the Lens says its production and financing infrastructure is already active in Singapore, Japan, Thailand, and New Zealand, and is “taking full advantage of the benefits of new digital blockchain technology that is undoubtedly shaping the future.”

Berman previously served as president of worldwide production for Warner Bros. Pictures, and then spent nearly a quarter century at Village Roadshow Pictures, the production and finance company that has long operated as a Warner partner. His credits include executive producing “Joker,” “Ocean’s Eight,” Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi adventure “Ready Player One,” Clint Eastwood’s “Sally,” George Miller’s “Mad Max” and “Sherlock Holmes”. He is an executive producer on the “Matrix” franchise.
