SEOUL, Dec. 13 (UPI) — Hallyu superstar gold BTS reported mandatory military service on Tuesday, becoming the first member of a boy band to serve in the military and officially ending the iconic septet’s chapter.

The 30-year-old arrived at an army training camp in Yeoncheon, less than 10 miles from the demilitarized zone that separates the two North Koreas. Jin, who has just shaved his head, will be in uniform for 18 months, revealed on social media fan platform Weverse over the weekend.

All able-bodied South Korean men are required to serve in the military, and there has long been debate over whether BTS would receive a special exemption for their contribution to boosting the country’s international image.

In October, the band’s management company announced that all members of BTS will be reunited after completing their military service.

Big Hit Entertainment said in a statement: “While some members’ solo activities are planned for the first half of 2023, members of both the company and BTS look forward to reuniting as a group again around 2025.”

Citing congestion and safety concerns, Big Hit asked fans and media not to gather at the boot camp entrance and announced that no event would be held to see the pop star off.

According to reports, dozens of fans and a large number of domestic and foreign journalists turned up at a site across the road from the camp under heavy security local reports. King arrived in the early afternoon and made his way to the base without stopping in a platoon of cars.

The K-pop heartthrob is expected to complete a standard five-week basic training course before being assigned to a unit.

Jin joined the Chris Martin Member of British rock band Coldplay. According to Big Hit, the song sold more than 700,000 copies on its first day of release and topped the iTunes charts in 97 countries.

Other solo projects of the BTS members include an album by bandleader RM indigoreleased earlier this month, along with J-hope’s summer edition of the hit jack in the box.

BTS was formed in 2013.Their last concert before enlisting in the army was held in october In front of more than 50,000 fans in the southeastern city of Busan.
