Companies are going the extra mile to keep employees happy and recognize their exemplary performance
From awarding bucket list wishes to rewarding their top riders, the UAE’s delivery companies finished 2022 on a high note by surprising and honoring riders and going the extra mile to keep their staff happy.
Deliveroo has launched a campaign to reward some riders with a thrilling experience. Selected riders can choose to join a yacht party, tour the Burj Khalifa Observation Deck or zipline at Xline Dubai Marina.
Naseem Abbas, who has visited the Burj Khalifa, said visiting the building, which he has driven by many times, was the most exciting experience. “I’ve used thousands of elevators when delivering food, but the elevator ride to the top of the Burj Khalifa was the best ever because it has a cool 3D light show on the way up,” he said. “I’m so excited to see Dubai from the heights. My cousins are so jealous!
Rider Haji Mohamed relished the opportunity to party with his friends on a yacht cruise around the Palm Islands. “The view is beautiful,” he said. “It was nothing like what I had imagined. I really enjoyed the party.”
According to him, it’s a great opportunity to take photos and videos with friends, some of whom he’s known since he joined Deliveroo six years ago.
Meanwhile, Atif Mehmood can’t keep his cool as he ziplines over the Marina. “I’m very excited,” he said. “I think everyone in Marina must have heard my screams of excitement.”
The rider said he is now busy recommending the experience to everyone he meets. “I felt like a bird flying over the pier, and even though it was really scary, I had a lot of fun,” he said. “I think everyone should try it once.”
According to him, the best part of his job is the connections he makes. “When I’m on duty, I can easily meet a lot of other drivers,” he said. “Often, it leads to long-lasting friendships. We’re all there to support and care for each other.”
Talabat, another major delivery brand in the UAE, honored 90 top riders at a ceremony held at Hero Experience Centers across the three emirates. Talabat dubs them “superheroes” on their social media channels and says the awards are based on votes from customers, partners and their peers.
Arif Hasan Shaikh is widely recognized as the safest man on the road with not a single fine on his record. Arif, who is originally from India and is an avid cricket fan, said he was very careful when he went out. “I always take extra precautions when driving on the road and always follow the rules of the road to keep myself and others safe,” he said. “I also remind my colleagues to drive safely. I hope to join the Talabat Patrol safety force and guide other riders to drive safely on the road.”
Pakistani national Mudassar Hussain, who has been working in the UAE since 2014, was recognized as the favorite of his peers. The rider, who posts inspirational videos on social media, said the votes of his colleagues meant a lot to him. “It’s not just a reward for me, it’s a reward for them,” he said. “I believe in the value of friendship and the impact it can have on our lives, and I’m glad it’s been recognized. They see me as a role model, which means a lot.”
According to him, the best part of his job is being able to cycle around the city. “While working, you discover all those hidden gems and beautiful areas of the city,” he said. “I also have a lot of friends that I see every day in different parts of the city.”
Muhammad Azhar, a father of two, was voted the customer’s favorite. “I would say my greatest strengths are punctuality and focus, which my clients appreciate,” he said. “I wake up every morning excited to see new faces and meet new people. I always greet my customers with a smile.”
The Pakistani national received a request from a client. “I would like to request [them] Be patient and understand that we are doing our best to bring you food carefully and safely. [Your] Kindness impacts our day and increases our gratitude for the work. “
