#Roommates, as the 2021 school year begins nationwide, despite the surge in the number of COVID-19 due to the Delta variant, many states are still working hard to ensure that students and staff are as safe as possible-and now California It has just taken a historic first step. In a recent announcement, California is now the first state in the United States to require teachers and school employees to be vaccinated or promise regular COVID-19 testing.

@Newsweek reports, in Press conference Earlier today, California Governor Gavin Newsom officially announced the mandatory enforcement of masks in all state schools. Now, teachers and school staff must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or undergo regular testing. This decision now makes California the first state in the United States to enforce a vaccine mandate-this affects more than 319,000 teachers in the state, and more states may follow this decision.

When talking about his decision on the vaccination tasks for teachers and faculty, Governor Newsom said this:

“We need to do more, do better, and become the first state in the country to require vaccine authorization, or at least verification and/or testing requirements. We think this is the right approach, we think this is to keep the school open And the sustainable way to solve the first anxiety that parents like me have, I have young children, and that is to know that the school is doing its best to protect the safety of our children.”

According to the latest COVID-19 data, California currently has an average of 22,700 new cases for every 100,000 people tested within 7 days, because the highly infectious Delta variant of the virus continues to spread at an alarming rate.

Although Governor Newsom emphasized the current vaccination work in California, he said there is definitely more work to be done. “Although we are proud that California has the highest vaccination rate in the United States, 77.5% of all eligible Californians now have at least one dose of the vaccine, but that’s not enough. This is the charge. This is what we take in California Way,” he said.
