South Africa’s most successful coach has become the new manager of UAE Pro League side Al Wahda FC.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns manager is ready for his fifth venture as head coach following a difficult departure from Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli.
His new team is a big player in the Arab world, winning four titles in their history. However, their last league title was 13 years ago, which makes the change all the more exciting.
“Al Wahda FC have signed South African technical director Pitso Mosimane to lead the first team as head coach,” the club said in a statement.
“The Club Board welcomes Mr Mosimane to the Home of the Champions; wishes him every success in his service to the club’s leadership, administration and fans’ aspirations.”
Mosimane is currently in South Africa and has just opened his new football academy.
However, with links to the Kaizer Chiefs and other PSL clubs now closed, it was only a matter of time before he headed to the Middle East to prepare for a new challenge.
