Chairman of World Padel Tour praises Abu Dhabi for hosting…

Ramon Agenjo confirms Abu Dhabi is the ideal starting point for the 2023 World Padel Tour.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: World Padel Tour Chairman Ramon Agenjo praised Abu Dhabi for hosting the Modon Abu Dhabi Padel Masters, part of this year’s World Padel Tour opening event.

The World Padel Tour Modon Abu Dhabi Padel Master is organized by Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism in partnership with Global MICE Organization Limited (GMOL Events). Modon Properties is the title sponsor of the latest international sporting event in the UAE, with other major sponsors including Emirates Post Group, McDonald’s, Bullpadel, Hilton, Estrella Damm and Head to name a few.

Competing at Bab Al Nojoum on Hudayriyat Island, Ramon said: “I am delighted that the World Padel Tour is hosting the Masters in Abu Dhabi, an international destination loved by all and whose citizens are hospitable. As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Tour, hosting the Modon Abu Dhabi Padel Master on Hudayriyat Island is a worthy start to the World Padel Tour season in 2023. This competition is historic as we witness the first Arabs Participating in the main event of the World Padel Tour. We thank Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, Modon Properties and all partners who contribute to delivering world-class sporting events.”

“We witnessed a series of intense competitions in beautiful destinations such as Bab Al Nojoum surrounded by the pristine blue waters of Al Khoudariyat, making the experience unforgettable. The UAE is proving itself as a country that loves padel , we very much hope that the sport will continue to thrive here after this,” Agenjo added.

Yesterday’s quarter-finals were where the World Padel Tour Modon Abu Dhabi Padel Master really heated up. Franco Stupaczuk and Martín Di Nenno eliminated fellow Argentine champions Fernando Belasteguín and Carlos Daniel “Sanyo” Gutiérrez head-to-head, winning 6-3 / 6-3.

The victory took Stupaczuk and Di Nenno into the semi-finals where they will face world number one Juan Lebron and Alejandro Galan in a battle to end the day, with the latter beating Jorge Nieto Ruiz 6-4/6-1 and Pablo Lima.

No. 11 seeded duo Gonzalo Rubio Perez and Javier Ruiz Gonzalez were beaten by lower-ranked opponent Ivan Ramirez del Campo on Center Court in the morning And Pablo Cardona Huerta into three sets, the score was 6-4 / 2-6 / 6-2, breaking the 11-game unbeaten record of the rookie duo that year.

Elsewhere in the women’s division, Team Zielinski/Segador defeated Maria Virginia Riera and Tamara Icardo Alcorisa.

The theme of Saturday’s penultimate day of the World Padel Tour’s Modon Abu Dhabi Padel Master is the enduring dominance of the top teams.

World No. 1 Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar became the season’s earliest finalists with a 6-4 / 6-2 win over the Castello/Jensen duo in fairly easy two-set midfield.

The first men’s finalists were confirmed as the most untouchable duo in the competition continued their winning streak with a combined 6-2/6-3 victory over 14th-ranked Spaniards Javi Ruiz Gonzalez and Gonzalo Rubio Perez .
