Ovchinnikov sued McDonald’s for $14 (1,000 rubles) as compensation for continued mental damage.
McDonald’s did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment on the lawsuit.
According to Fox News, Ovchinnikov stated in the lawsuit: “I think McDonald’s behavior violated the Consumer Protection Law. I request the court to investigate. If a violation occurs, I will instruct McDonald’s LLC to compensate me. A thousand rubles of mental loss.”
McDonald’s is no stranger to litigation, including litigation related to advertising.In May of this year, the fast food chain was sued by two departments of Allen Media Group, accusing it of racism.
The complaint in the lawsuit alleges that McDonald’s refused to advertise on the Entertainment Studio Network or the Weather Channel due to racial stereotypes.
