The case was first caused by Russian official media and Western media reports including Fox News, According to her lawsuit, the document states that when the “tempting” McDonald’s ad made her succumb, the woman did not eat meat for a month.

Fox News reported that Ovchinnikov accused the fast-food giant of violating consumer protection laws and insulting her religious feelings.

Ovchinnikov sued McDonald’s for $14 (1,000 rubles) as compensation for continued mental damage.

McDonald’s did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment on the lawsuit.

According to Fox News, Ovchinnikov stated in the lawsuit: “I think McDonald’s behavior violated the Consumer Protection Law. I request the court to investigate. If a violation occurs, I will instruct McDonald’s LLC to compensate me. A thousand rubles of mental loss.”
