The 21st cycle of the annual campaign, which has been renamed Clean UAE, kicked off in Ajman on Monday to coincide with the International Volunteer Day, at Sheikh Amar bin Humaid Street in collaboration with the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department.
The group will hold similar events in all seven emirates.
• 7 December – Fujairah
• 8 December – Sharjah
• December 10 – Dubai
• 12 December – Ras Al Khaimah
• 13 December – Umm Al Quwain
• 15 December – Abu Dhabi
The campaign in Ajman registered 804 participants and cleared an area of 3 square kilometers.
Habiba Al Mar’ashi, Co-Founder and Chair of EEG, said in her opening statement: “What started as a small call to action has now resounded at the national level and reached every corner of the country. It attracts and has aroused great interest from all walks of life. Over the years, the event has grown into the most popular action-oriented community program among environmental enthusiasts in the UAE. I am truly honored to see the participants joining us including those from Individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, as well as private organisations, academia, multinational corporations and other stakeholders.”
Sheikh Humaid Al Mualla, Director of Environment and Development, Ajman Municipal Planning Department, said: “Protecting the environment, preserving resources and ensuring a better tomorrow for future generations is one of its most important goals. 1. It is therefore pleased to be involved in all specific activities related to instilling a positive culture, encouraging joint work, supporting mutual cooperation with all institutions, agencies and individuals to maintain the image of the country as beautiful, clean air and green cities.”
