In Maryland, a man stole a truck and then an ambulance, causing over a dozen collisions on highways in the US. The individual, identified as 30-year-old Darell T. Caldwell, first stole the truck in Virginia and was later apprehended in Washington, DC, after a police chase.
The Virginia State Police shared in an August 13 Facebook post that they responded to a crash involving the stolen truck on Interstate Highway 66. Minutes later, another multi-vehicle crash occurred on interstate highway 395, both attributed to Caldwell.
After causing yet another crash on the George Washington Parkway, Caldwell fled the scene in an Arlington County Fire Department ambulance, prompting a police pursuit.
The chase ended in Washington, DC, with Caldwell colliding head-on with a parked vehicle and subsequently getting arrested. The video of the high-speed ambulance weaving through traffic was widely circulated online.
