
The two sides discussed ways to deepen defense cooperation, WAM news agency reported
Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Asim Munir, visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and discussed bilateral relations with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE National News Agency Wan reported Saturday.
UAE President Sheikh Mohammed reportedly received the army commander-in-chief at the Qasr Al Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi.
General Asim expressed his heartfelt condolences to the President of the UAE on the death of his mother-in-law, Sheikha Maryam bint Abdullah bin Sulayem Al Falasi.
The army chief also expressed condolences on behalf of President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Sheikh Baz Sharif, the statement added.
The two sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to deepen defense cooperation “for the mutual benefit of both countries”.

Several senior officials from both countries attended the meeting.
This is General Asim’s second visit to the UAE since he became army chief of staff last November. The army chief made his first visit to the UAE on January 10.
COAS and UAE leaders discussed the regional situation and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and partnership between the two countries.
