Ladies of Tucumcari, assistants to the Krewe of Tucumcari, Tucumcari, at Jim & Colette Mitchell on January 7 at The home of the Round Oak Subdivision hosted the Royal Meet and Greet for the Crewe Family’s 75th Diamond Jubilee Celebration.
Krewe will host the 75th Annual Tableau Ball on Saturday, February 11 in the Raising Cane’s River Center Ballroom, featuring diamonds and champagne. Tucumcari is the oldest Mardi Gras krewe in Baton Rouge, established in 1947. King and Queen, siblings Lane and Riley Richard are the great-great-grandsons of founding krewe member Mr. LA Champagne.
GFWC Lagniappe Women’s Club Names Lana Merliss Distinguished Member
Lana Melis Elected as a Distinguished Member of the GFWC Lagniappe Women’s Club at its January 17th meeting.runner up is Montez love and Pat Quartararo.
Merliss is eligible for the regional awards, which will be announced on March 15th.
Christy Smith A spokesman for the Baton Rouge Soldier Outreach was the morning speaker. Smith and her organization collect and package items to mail to active duty military members around the world. Club donations help pay for postage.

mayor Ginny Klimavic Announcing that the district convention will be held on March 15, charlotte frattini as chairman. The convention will host photography and craft competitions. In addition, awards for various recipients of community service programs, areas of advancement and special projects will be announced.
Quartararo is running a sweepstakes for club scholarships to be awarded in the spring. The winners of the sweepstakes are Klimavicz and Merliss. Quartararo also won the pin wearing contest.
The meeting was followed by a salad luncheon.
BR Delta Sigma Theta honors community partners, long-time members
During the recent Founders’ Day celebration, the Baton Rouge Sigma Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. honored community partners and members who have served the organization for 40 and 50 years.
On January 13, the national organization celebrated 110 years of community service, sisterhood, scholarship and social action.
Includes community partners recognized for their support Hermann Brister Jr.Dean of Experimental College, Southern University; State Representative C. Denise Marcel; ashley sheltonCEO of Power Alliance; Dr AS K. Renee Horton; and Matthew Valliere, CEO of CareSouth Medical and Dental and Entergy. Community Partners received the Y (Yvonne) Jean Whitley Flame Award at the Crimson Gala at the Holiday Inn Baton Rouge South.
Members who have served the organization for 40 and 50 years were honored at the Founders’ Day Luncheon on January 15 in the Cotillion Ballroom at Southern University.Members with 40 years of service include Ross Hudson, Before Karen performed in Washington, andre love and Karen Yarborough. Members with 50 years of service are: Brenda Guess, Karen Amber, Mildred Penson, Claudia Jackson Fisher, Leona Marie Bowler and Blanche Page Smith.
The sorority also recognized judy besley, co-chair of the Social Action Committee, was named “Sisterhood of the Year.” Priest. Chauvin Allin-BradleyMember of Delta’s National Board of Directors and guest speaker.
