CWC Qualifiers: Sterling’s tons of power give Ireland consolation win over UAE, Sri Lanka finish group stage high

With this victory, Lanka topped Group B with four wins from four games and eight points. Scotland, on the other hand, have three wins and one loss from four games and are in second place with six points.

Scotland chased the former champions’ tally of 246, but they dropped wickets here and there and were down to 99/7 in 20.5 overs.

Christopher McBride (29) and captain Richie Berrington (10) are the only two top/intermediate players to hit double figures. Sri Lankan spinners Wanindu Hasaranga and Theekshana did most of the damage, with help from skippers Dasun Shanaka, Kasun Rajitha and Lahiru Kumara.
