Cyclone Shaheen is losing power as it moves towards the UAE

[ad_1]

The tropical storm that killed at least 11 people in the area is weakening…

After gathering intensity over the warm waters of the Arabian Gulf, the cyclone “Shahin” was formed by the collapse of the cyclone “Gurab” that swept across the west coast of India. It hit the coast of Oman on Sunday with wind speeds of up to 150 kilometers per hour.

Flash floods and second-degree hurricane-intensity winds have caused severe damage to the Sultanate next door. The official death toll is 11, but the tragic possibility of more deaths may be announced later.

Hit the UAE

As the storm headed inland towards Al Ain, the UAE authorities acted quickly, announcing measures to mitigate any potential damage. The school was temporarily closed and residents were urged to stay at home.

But as the storm moved further and further away from the coast, its power began to weaken, and there was only mild rainfall in the eastern part of the UAE.

On Monday, October 4, schools and other business activities in the Al Ain area of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi were allowed to reopen.

say NationwideA spokesperson for the UAE’s National Meteorological Centre (NCM) said: “Because the source of power is the ocean, and because of the high ocean temperature, it becomes more powerful,”

“But then it landed over Oman, so it lost its energy and was weakening.

“From last night until now, the eastern part of the UAE, especially the sky over Al Ain, has been affected by light to moderate rain.

“The highest rainfall recorded (8.30 a.m.) was 3.4 mm over Hummel Shakla in the area near Al Ain,”
