“Snowfall” star Damson Idris will star opposite Brad Pitt in “Top Gun: Maverick” director Joseph Kosinski’s new Formula One film. Produced by Apple Original Films, the untitled film will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment.

In this racing special, Pete plays a former driver returning to the sport. Idris will play his teammate. Beyond that, engines rev up, finish lines are crossed, cars collide…well, we really don’t know what’s going to happen on or off the track. But since the movie was made in collaboration with Formula 1, the action sequences could be stellar.
Idris’ film credits include starring alongside Anthony Mackie in Netflix’s “Outside the Wire” and starring opposite Kate Beckinsale and Gugu Mbatha-Raw in Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s “Farming,” for which Idris Won the Best Performance Award at the Edinburgh Film Festival. He also guest-starred in “Black Mirror” and Jordan Peele’s remake of “The Twilight Zone.”
Apple is a relative newcomer to the movie-making scene, and it already has an impressive slate of films. Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon – starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Lily Gladstone – is about to premiere at Cannes. It will also release Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon,” starring Joaquin Phoenix and Vanessa Kirby. It’s entirely Brad Pitt’s business. In addition to the Formula 1 movie, Apple is backing an untitled Jon Watts film from “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which will star Pitt and George Clooney.
As for Idris, he is represented by CAA, M88 and attorney John Meigs.
