Abu Dhabi Begins Work on Landmark Arts Hub Opening in 2030 Dar al Funoon

Construction of Dar al Funoon Abu Dhabi, which is anticipated to be completed in 2030, has now commenced in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The newly designed performing arts complex is located on Saadiyat Island and will be created under the supervision of the late world-renowned architect Frank Gehry and will be one of the biggest performing arts centers in the region.

The complex will contain a main hall for performances that can accommodate more than 2,000 people, a 3,500 seat open-air amphitheater, a studio theater and a jazz club with capacity of accommodating more than 6,000 visitors.

The project will be used for various live performances including operas, ballets, theatres and concerts throughout the year.

According to the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, the project will reinforce the emirate’s status as a world-class cultural hub as well as providing artists with opportunities to showcase their talents among others.
