Delhi suggests a Middle East rail corridor to connect UAE and India by train

A new Middle East and South Asia ports and railway corridor will incorporate train connections to India, according to an Indian foreign ministry official. This clarification comes after the plan was introduced at the G20 summit in Delhi over the weekend.

Ausaf Sayeed, a secretary in the Foreign Ministry, emphasized that the corridor would involve train links to India, not solely connections through ports. He stated this during a media briefing, adding that it’s more about India being connected by railroads, rather than India constructing the railroads.

This multinational rail and ports initiative includes members such as the United States, Saudi Arabia, India, the European Union, and the UAE, and is seen as a response to China’s expansive Belt and Road Initiative.
