Diane Keaton’s Unfiltered ‘Book Club’ Press Conference Is Delightfully Messy

On Friday’s episode of “The View,” Keaton decided to casually recount the surrealness of speaking in front of a talk show studio audience.

“It was horrible,” Keaton said. “I mean, I’m following a lot of people right now. Look at them! They’re amazing.”

Keaton then pointed to the set behind her, turned and asked the showrunner, “Why am I here?”

Finally, during an appearance by Kelly Clarkson on Thursday with the rest of her “Book Club” cast, Keaton said she was tempted to not speak at all during the interview. When Clarkson finally confronted her, Keaton didn’t take it.

“Let me go!” Keaton said. “I just want to sit here. I’m enjoying it.”

Holding a glass of red wine, she said to the audience, “I’m sorry I can’t share it with everyone, but I’m going to drink it all up now” – and took another sip.

Clarkson later played a viral video from January in which Keaton dances to Miley Cyrus’ “flowers” in her yard.

When Clarkson told Keaton that she’s now officially a TikTok star and has been “going viral” on the app, Keaton responded: “I have? I don’t know. What is TikTok?”

Elsewhere in the conversation, Bergen referred to Keaton’s Instagram account, saying users could spend “hours” browsing it, and she highlighted a post about “The Door.”
