Do Kwon reportedly charged with falsifying documents in Montenegro

Do Kwon, co-founder of Terraform Labs, was evading law enforcement until last month when he was reportedly indicted in Montenegro for falsifying travel documents. The prosecution comes more than three weeks after Kwon was arrested at Podgorica airport while trying to flee the country.

Prosecutors ask court to extend detention of Dao Quan

According to a report from South Korea block mediaSince then, the Podgorica State District Attorney has indicted Do Kwon and Han Changjun, the former chief financial officer of Terraform Labs. According to documents filed with the Lower Court of Montenegro, the Podgorica State Prosecutor’s Office intends to prosecute the co-founders of Terraform Labs and their associates for producing and using fake passports and other identification documents.

Court documents further show that prosecutors are seeking to extend the detention of Kwon and his accomplices. A decision on the extension is not expected until April 23, when the Terraform Labs executive’s initial 30-day detention will end. If convicted, the pair could face up to five years in prison. Meanwhile, South Korean authorities attempted to arrest another Terraform Labs co-founder, Shin Hyun-Seong, aka Daniel Shin. However, the Seoul Southern District Court refused to issue an arrest warrant.

Do Kwon was arrested at Podgorica airport on March 23 after he tried to board a private jet bound for Dubai using a fake Costa Rican passport. His arrest caps a months-long manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including Interpol.Both the U.S. and South Korea are seeking Kwon’s extradition

Sue him for his role in last year’s Terra debacle. However, the Attorney General of Montenegro has clarified that Daoquan must face prosecution in Montenegro before he can be extradited.
