Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, led a UAE delegation of more than 30 business leaders to Georgia, during which they participated in the inaugural UAE-Georgia Business Forum in Tbilisi to promote bilateral investment and trade opportunities and Private sector cooperation.

The forum was opened by Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Zeyudi and Levan Davic Haveli. Senior officials and key representatives of the business circles of the two countries attended the forum.

At the forum, Al Zeyoudi announced a new chapter in the relationship between the two countries, noting that both sides can now expect greater trade and investment flows. “Over the past six months, the UAE and Georgia have been working to pursue a deeper and stronger partnership to accelerate bilateral trade, boost investment, and build partnerships in priority areas such as artificial intelligence, agriculture, tourism, transport, energy, and climate change. Sector development opportunities. We have certainly laid a solid foundation, with non-oil bilateral trade reaching AED1.7 billion by 2022, an increase of 110% from 2021. It is now important that we create a platform for the private sector to collaborate, especially It’s about enabling start-ups and entrepreneurs to benefit from new markets.”

The minister said that the UAE’s favorable investment climate can provide Georgian businesses with a supportive ecosystem and unrivaled global connectivity, enabling them to scale and expand. He highlighted the ministry’s NextGenFDI initiative, which provides research and development in advanced technology, artificial intelligence, robotics and fintech.

During the UAE-Georgia Business Forum, Al Zeyoudi met a number of Georgian government ministers and officials, starting with a bilateral meeting with Davichihvili and Foreign Minister Ilia Darsiashvili. The two sides discussed the CEPA roadmap and promoted the strengthening of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

Al Zeyoudi also discussed food security and renewable energy projects with Environment Protection and Agriculture Minister Ottar Shamioga, and investment opportunities in logistics and energy with Regional Development and Infrastructure Minister Irakli Karsiladze.

In addition to Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, the UAE delegation to Georgia included Ahmed Ibrahim Al Nuaimi, UAE Ambassador to Georgia; Rashid Abdul Karim Al Balushi, Undersecretary for Economic Development, Abu Dhabi (joined); Assistant Deputy for International Trade Affairs, Ministry of Economy; Juma Muhammad Al Kait, Minister; Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Jamal Jarwan, Secretary-General of the UAE Overseas Investors Council and a number of representatives from federal and local government agencies, businessmen and the private sector.
