As we all know, the regulations in the UAE are very strict. While the roads are wide and a great place to test the speed limit for vehicles, they have strict speed limits to keep drivers safe on the road. If you are someone who regularly travels through Abu Dhabi’s Sweihan Road, then you must read on because new speed limits are in place.

Yes, as mentioned above, there is now a new speed limit on Sweihan Road in Abu Dhabi. From Sunday 4 June the speed limit has been reduced from 140 km/h to 120 km/h. The speed limit on the road from Al Falah Bridge to Abu Dhabi International Airport has been revised, according to news from Khaleej Times. As it happens, the warning was issued by the Abu Dhabi Police General Command in cooperation with the Integrated Traffic Centre. To ensure everyone obeys and understands the revised speed limits, signs have been put in place to inform drivers.

The change has been incorporated after research showed lowering the speed limit could help improve traffic safety. Therefore, motorists are asked to be mindful of their speed and make sure to obey all traffic rules and regulations. However, it should also be noted that speeding is a serious traffic offense. This will be punished with a fine ranging from AED300 to AED3000! However, this depends on how fast motorists are traveling over the suggested speed limit. The revision follows the recent introduction of a colored light-based traffic alert system on Abu Dhabi Expressways. With the help of this new alert system, drivers can be warned of any traffic accidents ahead or even severe weather conditions that may affect their driving experience.

So if you’re someone who uses The route a lot, you might want to keep this new speed limit in mind
