Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah hotels see highest occupancy and room rate growth

Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah led the recovery in tourism in the UAE, with demand for hotels rising significantly in the three emirates in the second quarter of this year, a new report shows.

Hotels in Dubai saw a 197% year-on-year increase in international overnight visitor arrivals in the first five months of the year, with average daily rates (ADR) rising by 54% (percentage points) in the second quarter, the fastest increase in the UAE market compared to a year ago. quick.

In its new report, Colliers International said hotels in Sharjah came in second with a 53% increase, followed by Abu Dhabi with a 35% increase.

As for occupancy, Abu Dhabi led the way with a 31% increase, while Dubai and Sharjah increased by 30% and 15% respectively.

The three emirates also saw the highest increases in revenue per available room (RevPAR) levels.

With the exception of Fujairah, where occupancy fell by 5%, all other markets in the UAE showed an improvement.

“The UAE continues to lead the way as one of the top global tourism destinations. Tourism levels in the market have continued to recover throughout the first and second quarters, with both domestic and international tourism demand showing a recovery compared to 2021 figures. signs,” Colliers International said.

Some 6.17 million people will visit the UAE in 2022, triple the number of tourists recorded a year earlier.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in the UAE, online searches and bookings in Dubai this year are almost at their pre-pandemic levels.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, this trend is the result of continued promotion of destination marketing and ease of entry into the emirate for business and leisure travelers.
