Dubai Airports launches seamless travel program for PODs

Dubai Airports is launching a comprehensive new program to ensure an industry-leading, inclusive and seamless travel experience for all persons with hidden disabilities (POD) traveling through Dubai International Airport (DXB).

As part of Dubai Airports’ shared value of ‘We all meet the world differently’, the new initiative will help achieve the UAE Vision 2021 and Dubai Plan 2021 visions for Dubai to be the world’s leading disability-friendly city and An accessible community that empowers and welcomes all POD travelers.

The new program will be rolled out in two phases over two years and will work with service partners from the DXB community to enhance the travel experience for passengers with hidden disabilities such as autism, chronic fatigue and PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).

To consolidate recognizable and accessible options for POD travelers, Dubai Airports will introduce pre-trip travel planning and autism-friendly routes, with priority routes through check-in, passport control, security checkpoints and boarding, wearing a sunflower lanyard can be used. Specially trained staff supporting POD travelers are easily identifiable with sunflower pins, increasing visibility, communication and support throughout the airport journey.

As part of the plan, a comprehensive educational campaign will be launched to raise awareness about autism, particularly related to socially acceptable language and empathy, complemented by distribution at all airport entities Key training material to ensure POD travelers receive consistent support and support. Positive customer experience. Dubai Airport has been certified as an autism-friendly environment by the Dubai Autism Centre.

The second phase of the rollout will see more innovative solutions, including connected airports, quiet rooms and airport safari tours.
