Abu Dhabi: Dubai on Thursday announced a major plan to develop and expand the length of public beaches by 400 percent by 2040, the Dubai Media Office (DMO) reported.
The new project launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, includes the development of enclosed beach areas, walkways, cafes and dining areas.
Sheikh Mohammed shared a video on Twitter showing Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai releasing the turtles into the sea.

“In the Dubai urban planning, we have adopted the development and doubling of public beaches by 400% by 2040, the area of public beaches will increase from the current 21 square kilometers to 105 square kilometers by 2025, and the service of public beaches will 300% increase,” Sheikh Mohammad tweeted.
“We launched the first urban plan in Dubai in the 1960s. The development of Dubai continues and we are still in the early stages,” he added.
Sheikh Mohammed continued: “We will continue to deliver the best possible standard of living for individuals and families through our services and programs across the globe.”
Sheikh Mohammed said the new urban development will add to and boost the emirate’s economic and tourism agenda over the next decade.
“Dubai will continue to compete for the best location for tourists and residents,” he stressed.
