According to a senior official of the Dubai Municipality, the city of Dubai has several hidden gems. Bader Anwahi, CEO of Dubai Municipality’s (DM) Utilities Authority, was interviewed by Khaleej Times on the sidelines of the city’s ongoing Arabian Tourism Market (ATM).

The 30th edition of the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Conference kicked off on Monday at the Dubai World Trade Centre.Dubai Municipality (DM) reveals plans to introduce night swimming Selected beaches in Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah are equipped with special lighting and trained lifeguards.

The Khaleej Times asked Bader to name his favorite places to visit in the city, and here is his list:

1. Dubai Photo Frame

The iconic golden rectangular Dubai frame offers visitors unobstructed views of the city, with “Old Dubai” to the north and “New Dubai” to the south, serving as a bridge between past and present. Standing 48 stories high, The Frame Dubai features a glass walkway with stunning city views. Galleries within the attraction will also offer visitors a glimpse into the city’s past and look into Dubai’s future. The DM recently revealed that over 1.5 million people visited Frame Dubai in 2022.

2. Dubai Safari Park

Dubai Safari Park is home to around 3,000 animals, all living on 119 hectares of land. African Village features animals from across the continent, Arabian Desert Safari is a drive-in attraction, and Asian Village embraces the diverse cultures of Asia, with plenty for visitors to explore. They can also get up close and personal with the animals through a variety of experiences including giraffe feeding, rhino feeding and bird shows. The safari park is home to 78 species of mammals – including 10 different carnivores and 17 primates – 50 reptiles and 111 birds as well as amphibians and invertebrates.

3. Pond Park

According to Bader, the city’s pond parks are hidden gems. “A lot of people don’t go to Pond Park because they don’t think there’s anything to do,” he said. “But if you ask me, there’s a lot going on there. Sometimes there’s almost no market to support local entrepreneurs. Then there are walkways, fountains, etc.” In Dubai, Al Barsha, Al Nahda, Al Qusais 3rd and Al Qouz, Al Khawaneej 1st has a pond park. There is a large body of water surrounding the park.

4. Umm Suqeim Beach

The UAE’s beaches are beloved by residents and tourists alike. With a variety of water sports, swimming opportunities, long walkways and restaurants serving a variety of cuisines dotted along the beach, there’s something for everyone. There’s even a public library for those who want to curl up on the beach with a good book. According to Bader, however, Dubai’s beaches are about to get better. “We’re going to launch Instagrammable spots on the beach so people can take better pictures,” he said.

5. Mushrif Park Trail

Mushrif Park has long been a favorite of nature lovers. In 2021, Dubai Municipality will introduce a total of 50 kilometers of cycling lanes. Divided into easy, intermediate and difficult courses, these bike trails attract professional cyclists and amateurs alike. Additionally, there are pump tracks and skill areas for those looking to practice their tricks and prepare for tougher rides. “A lot of people still aren’t using the track as much as possible,” Budd said. “I would encourage all families to go to Mushrif Park and check it out.”
