Dubai Culture to launch 11th edition of Sikka Arts Festival

The Dubai Arts and Culture Authority (Dubai Culture) will host the 11th edition of the Thika Festival of Art and Design from February 24th to March 5th in the Al Fahidi Historic District in the heart of Old Dubai.

Part of Art Dubai, the festival is an important pillar of Dubai’s creative scene, in line with Dubai’s cultural vision and aims to reinforce Dubai’s position as a global cultural hub, creative incubator and thriving hub. talent.

This year, Sikka presents a variety of art projects and performances that will be presented in 13 houses, each featuring a different type of art, installations, digital works and a variety of interactive spaces, including Sikka House; Khalij House; Decoy Al Film; Digital Art Gallery; Photography House; Decoy Hazaf; and Talli House, Sikka’s newest addition to offer new artwork inspired by Al Talli’s craft.

The festival will also feature six murals and nine outdoor installations, in addition to more than 100 symposiums, lectures and workshops highlighting developments in the art field and its global trends, as well as a variety of film, music and entertainment and show. Various poetry evenings will also be held in this inspiring atmosphere, reflecting Dubai’s creative potential.

Noor Khalfan Al Roumi, Program Manager, Sikka Art and Design Festival, said: “The festival provides a unique platform for Emirati and Emirati and GCC talents to showcase their creativity and artistic innovation in the heart of old Dubai. There you can witness inspiring journeys and cultural and artistic experiences expressing Dubai’s aspirations to become the capital of the creative economy by 2026.

Al Roumi added: “This year, we sought to launch a special edition that highlights the growth and success of the Sikka Art and Design Festival in the local and regional scene over the past decade. It reflects the Authority’s commitment to creating a sustainable a creative ecosystem that helps enable artists to showcase their artistic and cultural work in the open spaces offered by the festival.”

This year, more than 188 UAE and Emirati and GCC creatives participated in the festival, all working to draw inspiration from the festival’s theme, ‘New Ideas’. same path.

Al Jalila Children’s Cultural Center also participated in this year’s event, offering a rich program of activities and workshops in collaboration with a group of talented artists. This participation is aimed at promoting children’s culture, stimulating their creativity and developing their artistic abilities and talents.

Dubai Culture will work with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority to provide a range of options and alternatives for the public to attend the festival, where they can use public transport such as buses and the metro, noting that the event starts at 5pm and all work Days run until 11pm and weekends run from 4pm to midnight. – trade arab news agency
