Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has announced that the city will host the inaugural Dubai Esports Festival (DEF2022) from 11-20 November 2022 at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in District 2020.
DEF 2022 will be held in partnership with global esports leader VSPN and will be the first international leisure event to be held at the Dubai Exhibition Centre after Expo 2020.
From DEF 2022, DET and VSPN will launch a series of events and activities as part of a strategy to further enhance Dubai’s status as a global hub for esports and interactive technology-driven entertainment.
The festival will host a variety of events, including top international e-sports tournaments featuring world-renowned professional e-sports players, the launch of school tournaments, concerts by well-known artists, immersive FanExpo, and industry networking events. National, regional and international stakeholders and partners.
The Launch Summit will bring together esports stars, experts and industry bodies, providing them with the opportunity to exchange best practices, benchmark technologies and investments in esports in the MENA region and globally. At FanExpo, visitors can experience events ranging from retro games to exclusive releases. Both the Launch Summit and FanExpo will be co-organized by DET in conjunction with the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Dubai has developed a world-class esports ecosystem by investing heavily in technology, infrastructure, education and a new regulatory framework, as well as a thriving tech startup environment and a thriving internet talent pool. DEF 2022 will further enable Dubai to tap, unlock and capitalize on the huge esports potential that exists in the MENA region.
In addition to attracting a growing community of eSports enthusiasts and showcasing Dubai as a year-round destination for gamers, DEF 2022, with its exciting slogan “Play Beyond”, aims to attract eSports companies and game studios to the city Build a base.
