During an Air India Express flight from Dubai to Amritsar, a sudden medical emergency compelled the crew to make an emergency diversion to Karachi, Pakistan, to provide immediate medical aid to a passenger.
The incident occurred on Saturday, October 14, when the flight departed from Dubai at 8:51 am local time, en route to Amritsar. Mid-flight, a passenger experienced a severe medical issue, prompting the crew to take swift action to ensure the passenger’s well-being.
An Air India Express spokesperson explained, “A guest on board our Dubai-Amritsar flight had a sudden medical complication in flight, and the crew chose to divert to Karachi, as it was the closest location to provide immediate medical assistance.”
The flight landed at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi at around 12:30 pm local time. Effective coordination between the airline, airport personnel, and local authorities ensured that the passenger received immediate medical attention upon arrival.
The airport’s medical team, overseen by the airport doctor, administered necessary medical treatment, as reported by news agency ANI. Following a thorough medical assessment, the passenger was cleared to continue the journey.
After the successful intervention, the flight resumed its journey, departing from Karachi at 2:30 pm local time to its original destination, Amritsar.
