Dubai lab is the first in the UAE to automatically set temperature and lighting

[ad_1]

DEWA said the lab is the first in the UAE to use IoT in a fully automated and energy-optimized building. The platform includes temperature sensors and a people counting system that adjusts temperature and lighting conditions based on the number of people in the building as well as the outside temperature.

Al Tayer also reviewed a data-driven decision support system and an Underground Pipeline Inspection (UPI) test rig for identifying water delivery leaks.

Al Tayer was briefed on the 3U nanosatellite (DEWA-SAT 1) LoRA IoT launched by DEWA as part of its Space-D program. The R&D center has developed a satellite IoT terminal to directly connect DEWA’s assets to satellites, and suitable for grid applications, it connects IoT sensors to DEWA’s nano-satellites.

He was welcomed by Waleed Bin Salman, Executive Vice President, Business Development and Excellence, DEWA; Dr. Ali Rashid Al Alili, Vice President, Research and Development; Dr. Hesham Ismail, Senior Manager, Technology Advancement, and other staff.

Al Tayer commended the efforts of the R&D Center, which includes talented Emirati professionals, in developing advanced solutions in the center’s field of work.

Al Tayer said: “Through the R&D Center, DEWA aims to develop disruptive technologies for the Fourth Industrial Revolution to provide world-class services and improve the quality of life in Dubai, in addition to growing the UAE’s R&D sector and providing it with qualified Emirati people and support the scientific community in the UAE and the world.”

Al Tayer reviews some of the innovative research projects at the R&D Center. These include carbon capture storage and utilization (CCSU), wireless power transfer (WPT) and flow batteries, for which DEWA has registered a patent. The 4IR Advanced Materials team is developing an advanced version with leak-free geometry and another invention that improves system safety.

The 4IR robotics team explains the latest updates on issued patents on systems and methods for measuring atmospheric attenuation to determine optimal locations for concentrated solar power (CSP) towers. The team briefed Al Tayer on a new invention, a high-precision solar tracker.

Al Tayer inspected the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park’s solar water pumping and desalination station, which uses reverse osmosis (RO) gallon). The project is part of DEWA’s efforts to provide high-quality drinking water to the solar park’s research and development facilities.
