The Mohammad bin Rashid Government Innovation Center and the Mohammad bin Rashid Housing Agency have announced the launch of the “House of the Future” competition, inviting architects and designers from around the world to design an affordable, scalable, innovative and beautiful Residences – Delightful houses suited to the needs of the modern UAE.
According to the rules of the competition, the cost of building the house should not exceed the value of the home mortgage of AED 1 million ($272,259).
In the competition, architects and designers will reportedly design models of smart homes that will stand the test of time and meet the needs of future generations Wow.
The competition aims to generate unique designs that will enhance Dubai’s profile as a global architectural trendsetter. The competition jury is looking for innovative designs that will update the current housing offerings for Dubai citizens, giving them a greater understanding of the architectural aesthetics of the country and its people. The contest is open for submissions from April 25th until the end of September.
During the competition, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, said that Dubai’s continuous urban development, high-quality infrastructure and the construction of iconic buildings The ability to make it one of the most livable cities in the world.
“The ‘House of the Future’ competition is in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to further enhance Dubai’s status as a model city for development,” he said .
According to him, the winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in November, with the top prize of Dh500,000, followed by the runner-up with Dh200,000 and the third with Dh100,000. .
“The competition will also award AED 200,000 for the best design of a ‘self-sufficient house’ capable of running without water or electricity for two weeks,” he added.
The Future House competition has a detailed set of criteria covering innovation, modern smart design, ability to meet the needs of Emirati families, cost-effectiveness and liveability.
The international partners behind the competition include Zaha Hadid Architects, Santiago Calatrava – Architects & Engineers and Builder, Wow Report.
The competition jury included: Abdulredha Abu Alhassan, Executive Director, Railway Planning and Project Development, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority; Ahmed Bukhash, Chief Architect and Founder, ARCHIDENTITY; Charles Walker, Board Member, Zaha Hadid Architects; and CEO, Calatrava International Micael Calatrava, it added.
